In this cold lagoon there is a mermaid that can't stand calm days. Peace scares her. Mariela knows this and fears for her son Amilcar, who is being tempted to go elsewhere, to fish for better things. This film is a euphemism for the violence in Colombia, and a metaphor for a cruel chapter in the history of the country. A metaphor for a cruel chapter of our history: the disappeared. Subtly and decorously, Sirens in the Mist explores the worst tragedy for a mother, and the indolence of those who insist that “nothing has happened here”.
