SYNOPSIS
Music is one of the most powerful forms of cultural expression, carrying the stories, traditions, and identity of a people across generations. Through rhythms, lyrics, and melodies, communities give voice to everyday life—to work, family, love, the land, and the customs that shape who they are.
In the rural communities of Colombia’s interior, farmers are not only cultivators of the land but also guardians of traditions passed down from one generation to the next. Young and old sing coplas and play carranga, a lively mestizo musical tradition born from the blending of cultures and sounds over time. Rooted in rural life, carranga celebrates the experiences, humor, struggles, and resilience of the people who have made this music an enduring expression of their connection to the land and to one another.
Ivan Acosta Rojas
Iván Acosta Rojas is a producer across various areas, as well as an advisor, distributor and filmmaker, with training in Music, Journalism and Media Studies, Visual Anthropology, and Product and Model Photography. He has worked as a programmer, curator and juror for academic events, screenings and film festivals. He directed the documentary Gutiérrez. Una deuda pendiente (2024), on which he also served as executive producer, narrator and cinematographer, and has worked as executive producer and production designer on projects including Entre Nosotros (2018), Relatos de reconciliación (2021), Frío en la montaña (2021) and Hicimos una película (2022), as well as Colombian producer on Vampiras: The Brides (2024). His upcoming projects as director and producer include the documentaries DIPE. El artesano de la pintura and Herencia: Los cantos de la tierra, and the animated film Ako y el malvado mundo de Atar. He is currently manager of Alterna Vista SAS and a founding partner of Trama AC.
Iván Acosta Rojas es productor en distintas áreas, asesor, distribuidor y realizador audiovisual, con estudios en Música, Comunicación Social y Periodismo, Antropología Visual y Fotografía de Producto y Modelo. Ha sido programador, curador y jurado de eventos académicos, muestras y festivales de cine. Dirigió el documental Gutiérrez. Una deuda pendiente (2024), donde también fue productor ejecutivo, narrador y director de fotografía, y ha participado como productor ejecutivo y diseñador de producción en proyectos como Entre Nosotros (2018), Relatos de reconciliación (2021), Frío en la montaña (2021) e Hicimos una película (2022), además de productor colombiano de Vampiras: The Brides (2024). Prepara como director y productor los documentales DIPE. El artesano de la pintura y Herencia: Los cantos de la tierra, y la animación Ako y el malvado mundo de Atar. Actualmente es gerente de Alterna Vista SAS y socio fundador de Trama AC.
